In the upcoming NUS referendum, a third campaign has been launched by a collective of students to “reform and renew the NUS to something better, something Super”, The Cheese Grater can reveal.
Speaking to The Cheese Grater, leader of the campaign Pablo Marlborough said: “we appreciate that many people have issues with how the NUS is currently run. However, pulling the plug and leaving isn’t necessarily the answer.”
“We are campaigning to demand that the NUS rebrand, reform, and have a renaissance. Reflect what the students want more. I think renaming it to ‘SNUS’ is reflective of that; I asked a random student what they think of the NUS, and they’ll go: “what’s that?” I asked them the same but for SNUS, they’ll go “Love it mate. You got any?”. Not sure what they mean about the last part, but it can't be a bad sign.”
When a Cheese Grater journalist offered him a 12mg Velo, he declined, saying “Christ, no! I don’t use that filth, never got why people like nicotine.”
Exclusive polling by The Cheese Grater indicates that this campaign has had a good start, already polling ahead of both the Remain and Leave campaigns, but still magnitudes behind “Don’t Know” and “What the fuck is the NUS”.
Demographic data indicates the SNUS campaign is doing well around EFS members, Scala goers, and TeamUCL.
Results of the poll can be seen below.
