The hit TV show, Dodgy Building Sites, a reality programme where two presenters inspect a property following the low-standard work of its builders, made headlines recently for visiting UCL’s Portico.
Following the year-long renovation of the Portico with reported costs estimated at hundreds of millions, the presenters from the show were reportedly seen with a camera crew.
Eyewitness statements from students describe the cast and crew inspecting collapsed floors, a new species of damp (named after Michael Spence), and exploding toilet facilities. Their appearance occurred less than 24 hours after the Portico project was deemed complete.
The Cheese Grater reached out to UCL Estates who provided this response:
“What students have seen is actually the filming of an amazing action movie at UCL that just so happens to star the presenters of the TV show you are describing. This is simply another instance of the University permitting film projects of action/disaster movies on within UCL property.”
