As the cold dreary months linger on and the mince pie season is over, many of us are feeling lower in energy and life lustre.
To beat the “January blues”, UCL Student Support & Wellbeing and the Union have joined forces to jazz up the next two weeks, from 20 to 31 January.
To keep their spirits high, students might be tempted to try any of the eclectic mix of activities centred on well-being, community, and simply having a bit of fun.
A comedy show will take place at Bloomsbury Studio this evening (Monday 20th), cheap tickets include a drink.
A talk on how to improve your sleep will also be delivered this Monday on campus by Dr Guy Meadows, a leading expert in the field. Sources say there will be a prize for the person who makes it to the end without dozing off…
Animal lovers are invited to come caress a sweet dog to “fill up their cup”. Book a slot on Friday 31 for a quiet session. This event is aimed for neurodivergent students.
UCL Easties can grab a free cuppa and cookie and silently admire the new immersive art installation “Common Ground“ on Friday 28 afternoon.
Students of all levels can also give Afro Fusion dancing a hit, or experience singing in a choir on Wednesdays.
Beginner-friendly painting classes will also be given this or next Thursday in Lewis’ Building. Students could be tempted to ask that person they have been eyeing up in lectures to join them for a painting date.
Museum and game nights will also take place in a jam-packed two weeks.
If that’s not enough fun for you, Moody Margarets, our very own Graters’ “All Inclusive Tropical Vacations” will warm you up next Monday 27 January in Mully’s from 7:30pm. Get your tickets here for just £4.
Also in Mully’s this week is Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, a cracking comedy guaranteed to get you in the mood for Valentine’s Day, on Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th!
On top of these, Student Support & Wellbeing offers numerous other activities to try and make you go into February with a spring in your step… or at least a new favourite dance move for Scala, a couple of one-liners, a new friend, and a good night’s sleep.
