The guide with Freshers’ true priorities at heart… where to study after those late-night parties on the Thames.

We all know the torture of that last minute assignment that just needs to get done. So, when your head is pounding, sometimes it’s the darkest and quietest of spaces that are the real MVP.

So, here’s the rundown of the top five places to go when the student center just has too many windows.

5. IoE library – It’s so big that if you look hard enough you’ll find a shady spot and let’s be honest, it has a real ‘don’t talk to me’ atmosphere. So long as you don’t mind feeling like you’re trapped in a brutalist nightmare - it’s worth a visit.

4. Senate House Library – Silence guaranteed. If you can brave the bright lift or the 4,000 flights of stairs, you’ll find get some peace and quiet when you get there. Just don’t forget your UoL library card because you won’t will not make it there and back alive.

3. Archaeology Library – Those carrel desks are a godsend when you need a judgement-free five minutes with your head in your hands. Plus all the plants definitely do something for the air quality, you’ll feel better in no time!

2. Main Library – With its dark academia vibes, there’s always a gloomy corner to cower in surrounded by those musty books to muffle any noise. Don’t worry, nobody’s planning on reading them.

1. Your Accom – Remember, if all else fails, just close the blinds, get under the covers and pray you’ll feel better after that 30-minute nap.
