The UCL Women’s Volleyball suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to King’s in this year’s Varsity.

Despite their loss, the UCL women’s volleyball team played a hard fought match, and displayed a united front in their gameday strategy.

They began serve receive, starting a few points behind, but quickly gaining momentum and taking the first set 25-13.

The second set was a tight race with UCL starting serveside. Both sides went back and forth in a cohesive display of volleyball with the score tied 11-11 before the first timeout of the match was called. However, after the timeout, UCL lost momentum and lost the second set 25-12.

Despite UCL’s best efforts, the third and final set went in KCL’s favour, ending 15-6, resulting in a KCL victory of two sets to one.

Although the scoresheet ultimately decided a KCL victory, the UCL women’s volleyball team showed a convincing display of volleyball, with exciting volleys (including a Scott Sterling-esque save in the first set resulting in UCL’s 20th point), and close calls not reflected in the final score.
