Students voted this month to elect their department representatives, student trustees, and Union Zone representatives, with a turnout of 12.85% - a new record.

As expected, the student trustee race remained the most contested, with 27 candidates competing for two seats. Chelsea Cheng and Othman Ibrahim were elected.

The increase in postgraduate voters is the most significant change from previous elections.

In 2024, only 179 postgrads voted, and they made up just 2.3% of all voters; this year, 2439 voted, and they accounted for 34.7% - a fifteen-fold increase across three election cycles.

However, this still only makes up 9.5% of all postgrad students.

61 positions were filled this year, and the number of both vacant roles and uncontested roles (declined.

As opposed to 2025, which saw ten out of the thirteen Hall Community Officer roles uncontested, this year only six HCO positions ran uncontested: Astor College, Bernard Johnson House, John Adams Hall, Ramsay Hall, One Pool Street, and the undergraduate Canary Wharf position.

Only John Dodgson House and the postgraduate Canary Wharf role attracted a competitive field.

Faculty representation followed a similar pattern.

Nine of the sixteen faculty rep positions were uncontested, including Brain Sciences PGR, Laws PGT, Life Sciences PGR and PGT, both Medical Sciences PGT streams, Mathematical and Physical Sciences PGR, and Social and Historical Sciences PGR and PGT.

However, the remaining seven were contested, with Mathematical and Physical Sciences UG drawing 20 candidates for a single seat, Medical Sciences UG (Non-Clinical) 15, Laws UG 13, and IOE UG 10.

The elections concluded on 23 October 2026. All contests were conducted under ERS97 STV rules.
